Betty J. Baker

It is our duty to report the death of Past National President Betty J. Baker of the Auxiliary to Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War which has been reported to this office by the National President of the Auxiliary to the Sons of Union veterans of the Civil War President Allison Pollitt. Past National President Betty J. Baker passed away on Saturday, 21 January 2023, at the age of 78.

Past National President Betty J. Baker was born in Seneca Falls, NY, to Earl and Beatrice Terry on 26 April 1944. She married Mr. Edson W. Baker on 16 August 1962. Past National President Betty J. Baker volunteered at the South Seneca Ecumenical Food Pantry, even serving as its director, and additionally participated in various committees at the Ovid
Federated Church.

Past National President Betty J. Baker joined the ASUVCW belonging to D.G. Caywood Auxiliary #72 in Ovid, NY. She proudly served at her local Auxiliary, Department, and National levels in a great number of positions prior to holding the office of National President from 1996-1997 and again from 1998-1999.

A service will be held on Tuesday, 2 May, at 11:00 am at Covert Funeral Home in Ovid, NY. Donations in Past National President Betty J. Baker’s memory may be made to the South Seneca Ecumenical Food Pantry, c/o Ovid Federated Church, PO Box 340, Ovid, NY 14521 in lieu of flowers.
