Obituary 

Springvale – Charles Clarence Webster, 86, of 7 John St., died Saturday at his residence.  He was a past Maine Department commander of Union Veterans and a past national chaplain.

He was born at Newcastle Jan. 2, 1876, son of Humphrey and Mary Merrill Webster and had resided here the last 33 years.  He was a retired Goodall-Sanford textile mills wool sorter.

He was a member of the William Miller Camp, SUV, here and had been marshal of the annual Memorial Day parades here for a quarter of a century until recent years.

He is survived by his widow, the former Theresa M. Rogers; a son, Conrad of Sanford; a stepson, Harold White of Lexington, Mass.; a daughter, Mrs. Barbara Davis, Auburn; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Hilda Adams, Shrewsbury, Mo.; eight grandchildren.61 Main St.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at 61 Main St.  The Rev. John V. MacNeill, minister of the Pleasant Street Free Baptist Church, will officiate.  Interment will be in Riverside cemetery.
