It is our sad duty to report the death of ASUVCW Past National President Michelle Langley on 10 April 2021 at Interlaken, New York.
PNP Langley was a member of the D.G. Caywood Auxiliary #72, Department of New York. She joined the ASUVCW in 1987 and served three different terms as the Department of New York’s Department President before being elected National President of the ASUVCW in 2004. At the time of her passing, she was the Department of New York’s Treasurer.
The following is an excerpt of her published obituary:
Michelle was born in Seneca Falls on July 14, 1957, a daughter of the late Richard and Joyce (nee Christopher) Young. She was a 1976 graduate of South Seneca Central School and had worked for many years as co-owner and waitress of Terry’s Tasty Freez. For the past 10 years, she has been a driver of home delivered meals for the Office of the Aging of Seneca County. Michelle was a dedicated member of D. G. Caywood Auxiliary #72 of the Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War of Ovid – She was currently serving as the New York Department Treasurer, was three times the New York Department President and also served as the National President . As a devoted member of the Ovid Federated Church, she volunteered and served in many capacities to help out her community.

Her legacy of dedicated service for over 33 years is a testimony to her dedication to Civil War history, education, and preservation, and is a credit to the Allied Orders of the Grand Army of the Republic.
