Obituary

Rexford E. Oliver, 80,, of the Second Rangeway died at a local hospital Thursday afternoon following a brief illness.

He was born in Madison, Sept. 12, 1898, son of Frank and Nellie (Hopkins) Oliver.

He had been a Waterville area resident for 54 years and was employed by Scott Paper Co., retiring in 1960.  For the past 15 years, he had transported mail from Waterville to Belfast.

He was past department commander of the Sons of Union Veterans and a member of the Oakland Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Junah Oliver of Waterville; two sons, Rodney of Fairfield and Robert of Waterville; five daughters, Mrs. Annette Chase of Skowhegan, Mrs. Hazel Meserve of Sardis, Ohio, Mrs. Barbara Rafuse and Mrs. Joyce Nadeau, both of Waterville, and Mrs. Joan Lewis of Sidney; on half-sister, Virginia Van Dusen of Titusville, Fla.; 38 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two cousins.

Funeral services will be held at the Redington Funeral Home, 5 Park St., Waterville, Saturday at 2 p.m.

Friends may call at the funeral home today from 3 – 5 and 7 – 9 p.m.
