Obituary
Fred E. Fairfield, who for many years has conducted a prosperous music and novelty store in this city, died at his boarding house here Thursday morning. Mr. Fairfield had been suffering from diabetes for a long time, but had attended to business up to within a few days of his death. Mr. Fairfield made many friends here, by whom his death is sincerely regretted. He was ?? four children at the ?? and Norridgewock, where his remains were taken by train Friday morning for interment. They were escorted to the Washington County depot by a delegation from Calais Lodge, K. of P. Mr. Fairfield having been a member of Anchor lodge of Eastport. Mrs. Fairfield was summoned to this city when it became known that the illness of her husband would have a fatal termination, but did not arrive in time to reach his bedside before he passed away.
Burial was in East Mercer Cemetery, East Mercer, Somerset, Maine.
