Obituary

Augusta – Charles F. Morton, 66, Tasker road, died Friday at his home.

He was born Feb. 27, 1906 in Augusta, the son of Robert and Mabel Robie Morton.

He was a master plumber and a plumbing inspector in the city.

Morton was VAVS chairman of the Military Order of the Cooties, past grand commander of the Sons of Union Veterans, past noble grand, Sanborn Lodge, IOOF, Hallowell, member of Capital Sportsman’s Club en BPOE, Augusta.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Vigue Morton of Augusta; a sister, Mrs. Sarah DeMonte of California; two nephews and a niece.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at 15 Flagg St.  Elks services will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Morton, Charles F. – died Friday.  Funeral services will be at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 15 Flagg St., Augusta, at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.  Friends may call today from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.  Elks services will be at 7:30 p.m.

The Augusta Elks held services Saturday night with Thomas Morgan, exalted ruler; Larry Ronco, esquire; Allan Roach, leading knight; Martin Meader, lecturing knight; Alvin Smiley, chaplain; and Donald Bourassa, secretary.

Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in the spring.
